Scaffolding in Langho

Langho straddles the A59 between Whalley and Blackburn, with the older stone corner of Old Langho and its Tudor church tucked away down the back lanes. The main road makes it one of the quickest Ribble Valley villages for us to reach, roughly 25 minutes from our Preston base, and we scaffold everything here from standard semis to farmhouses and stone cottages.

Langho's housing is a broad mix. Along Whalley Road and the estates behind it you find interwar and postwar semis plus newer developments, where the common jobs are roof replacements, fascia and gutter work, render repairs and scaffolds for solar panel installations. Down the lanes in Old Langho the stock turns to stone cottages and farm properties, which bring chimney rebuilds, repointing and roof repairs on solid walls. Whatever the property, the scaffold goes up to TG20:21 with a compliance sheet available for your configuration.

Because the A59 runs straight through, we can be on site in about 25 minutes, which means surveys within 24 hours in most cases and quick return visits if your builder needs the scaffold adapting mid job. Most Langho scaffolds sit on drives and gardens where no licence is needed, but where a frontage meets the main road footpath we arrange the Lancashire County Council licence, £42 per 7 days with at least two working days notice, and keep a protected walkway open.

Ribble Valley Borough Council is the planning authority for any underlying building works. From Langho we also serve Billington, Brockhall Village, Wilpshire, Whalley and Salesbury, all within ten minutes of the village, so grouped jobs across neighbouring properties are easy for us to schedule and price sensibly.

Scaffolding in Langho — your questions answered

How much does scaffolding cost in Langho?

Guide prices start from around £450 for a single elevation on a typical semi, with most Langho jobs landing between £600 and £900 for one side and £850 to £1,200 for a full two storey scaffold. Chimney scaffolds start from around £400, and full wraps from around £1,500. The mix here runs from modern semis to stone cottages in Old Langho, so we price each job individually after a free survey. Quotes always state whether VAT is included, and the price covers transport, erection, the hire period and dismantling.

Do I need planning permission to put scaffolding up at my house in Langho?

No. Scaffolding is a temporary structure and does not need planning permission, even in a conservation area. Permission questions only arise for the building work the scaffold serves, and a highway licence is needed only if the scaffold occupies public land such as the footpath. If you are unsure about the underlying works, Ribble Valley Borough Council is the planning authority for Langho.

How long can I keep the scaffolding, and what if the job overruns?

Our fixed price includes a standard hire period, in line with the UK norm of 6 to 8 weeks, and covers transport, erection and dismantling. If the works overrun, a weekly extension rate applies, from around £20 to £75 per week for most domestic scaffolds depending on size, and it is stated on your quote so there are no surprises. On the highway the scaffold can only stay for the licensed period, Lancashire County Council charges £42 per 7 days and we extend the licence if needed.

Do you actually cover Langho? You are based in Preston.

Yes, Langho is well inside our daily working area. The A59 brings us straight here in about 25 minutes, which means fast surveys, quick adaptations mid job, prompt inspections after storms and a quick strike date once your trades finish. We cover Billington, Brockhall Village, Wilpshire and Whalley on the same runs, so we are passing through Langho most weeks.
