Good to know

Scaffolding questions, answered

How much does scaffolding cost?

As a guide, a single elevation on a typical semi starts from around £450 (most land between £600 and £900), a full two-storey scaffold from £800 (typically £850 to £1,200), chimney scaffolds from £400 and full wraps from £1,500. The price covers transport, erection, the hire period and dismantling, and our quotes always state whether VAT is included. Send us a photo and we'll quote it for free.

How quickly can you erect scaffolding?

We can usually survey within 24 hours. Most domestic scaffolds go up in 2 to 8 hours on site, with a typical two-storey semi taking around 3 to 5 hours. Where the scaffold needs a highway licence, the council requires at least two working days' notice, which we build into the plan.

How long can I keep the scaffolding up?

Our fixed price includes a standard hire period, in line with the UK norm of 6 to 8 weeks, which suits most roofing and building projects. If the job overruns, a weekly extension rate applies, agreed with you up front on the quote, and every scaffold gets its required 7-day statutory inspections throughout.

Do I need a licence for scaffolding on the pavement?

Only if the scaffold stands on or oversails the public highway, including the footpath outside your property. Lancashire County Council charges £42 per 7 days and needs at least two working days' notice. We handle the whole application for you, including insurance evidence and any traffic management plan.
