Scaffolding in Inglewhite

Inglewhite gathers around its small green and the old market cross that once served drovers crossing this corner of rural Preston. The stone cottages and working farms here keep us busy with chimney repairs, slate roofs and repointing, and although the village feels a world away from town it is only about twenty minutes from our Preston base.

Scaffolding in Inglewhite is old building work almost by definition. The stone cottages around the green, the farmhouses down the lanes and the barn conversions between them generate chimney stack repairs, slate roof scaffolds, repointing platforms and full scaffolds for render, and we plan tie positions carefully on the older walls. Being open country toward the Bowland fells, exposed gables get real weather, so we tie and sheet accordingly and return quickly for inspections after storms.

We reach the village in about twenty minutes via Broughton and Goosnargh. The lanes are narrow, so wagon access gets confirmed at the survey, but nearly every property stands in its own grounds and highway licences are rarely needed. Guide prices start from around £450 for a single elevation, typically £600 to £900, with chimney scaffolds from around £400, every quote confirming whether VAT is included and covering transport, erection, the hire period and dismantling. All scaffolds go up to TG20:21, and from Inglewhite we also cover Goosnargh, Whitechapel and the lanes toward Broughton.

Scaffolding in Inglewhite — your questions answered

How much does scaffolding cost in Inglewhite?

As a guide, prices start from around £450 for a single elevation, with most jobs between £600 and £900 for one side and £850 to £1,200 for a full two storey scaffold. Chimney scaffolds on Inglewhite's stone cottages start from around £400, and farm or barn conversion work is priced individually after a free survey because lane access and wall condition vary. Quotes always state whether VAT is included, and the price covers transport, erection, the hire period and dismantling.

Do you actually cover Inglewhite? You are based in Preston.

Yes, Inglewhite is inside our regular working area, about twenty minutes away via Broughton and Goosnargh. That is close enough for quick surveys, prompt storm inspections on these exposed sites and a fast strike once the trades finish. We know the narrow lanes well and also cover the neighbouring villages, including Goosnargh, Whitechapel and Whittingham.

Do I need full scaffolding or just a scaffold tower?

It depends on the job, there is no legal minimum height, the Work at Height Regulations 2005 simply require the risk to be managed wherever a fall could cause injury. Towers can suit short light tasks, but the chimney, slate roof and repointing work typical of Inglewhite's stone cottages needs a properly designed scaffold, particularly on exposed elevations where wind loading matters. Tell us what you are planning and we will advise honestly.
