Scaffolding in Tanterton

Tanterton sits beside Ingol on Preston's north west edge, estate housing largely from the 1970s and 80s arranged around cul de sacs and greens. Most of our work here is roofline renewal, fascias, soffits and gutters, plus roof repairs and solar installs, and with our base ten to fifteen minutes away we can survey quickly and keep hire periods short.

Tanterton's estate homes are at the same stage as neighbouring Ingol's, with original fascias, soffits, gutters and roof coverings all coming up for renewal, and that is where most of our scaffolds go, alongside chimney repairs, exterior wall coatings and a growing run of solar panel installations. Guide prices start from around £450 for a single elevation, typically £600 to £900, with full two storey scaffolds typically £850 to £1,200, chimney scaffolds from around £400 and solar scaffolds from £300, typically £600 to £1,200. Every quote confirms whether VAT is included and covers transport, erection, the hire period and dismantling.

Scaffolds in Tanterton nearly always stand on private drives and gardens, so highway licences rarely feature, and the practical planning is about cul de sac parking and keeping shared accesses clear, which we sort at the survey. We are ten to fifteen minutes away, scaffolds are erected to TG20:21 by CISRS carded teams and inspected at least every 7 days, and Preston City Council is the planning authority for any underlying works. We also cover Ingol next door and the Cottam estates, so we are in this corner of Preston most weeks.

Scaffolding in Tanterton — your questions answered

How much does scaffolding cost in Tanterton?

Prices start from around £450 for a single elevation on a typical Tanterton home, with most jobs between £600 and £900 for one side and £850 to £1,200 for a full two storey scaffold. Roofline only work, the most common job on this stock, often sits at the lower end of the band, and solar scaffolds start from £300, typically £600 to £1,200. We price after a free survey, quotes state whether VAT is included, and the price covers transport, erection, the hire period and dismantling.

How long can I keep the scaffolding, and what if the job overruns?

Our fixed price includes a standard hire period, in line with the UK norm of 6 to 8 weeks, which comfortably covers most Tanterton roofline and roof jobs. If the work overruns, a weekly extension rate applies, typically £20 to £50 for the scaffold sizes common here, and it is stated on the quote up front. Since Tanterton scaffolds almost always stand on private land, there is no highway licence period to worry about alongside the hire.

Do I need to tell my neighbours before scaffolding goes up?

Not legally, if the scaffold stands entirely on your own property, though on Tanterton's closes, where homes sit near one another and accesses are sometimes shared, a quick word with next door is always worth it. Notification only becomes a legal requirement if the scaffold must stand on or oversail their land, or if the underlying building works are notifiable under the Party Wall etc. Act 1996. We are happy to speak to a neighbour for you where a gable scaffold needs a little of their side.
