Scaffolding in Farington Moss

Farington Moss is the quieter, flatter side of Farington, a ribbon of bungalows, older cottages and working farms strung along Croston Road across the old moss land. It is an easy 15 minute run from our Preston base, and the mix of low rise homes and farm buildings here suits our smaller access scaffolds just as well as our full house wraps.

The housing on Farington Moss is lower and more spread out than in Farington itself, plenty of bungalows and dormer bungalows along Croston Road, a scattering of older cottages, and farms with barns and outbuildings on the moss. That mix shapes the work. Bungalow chimney scaffolds start from around £250, small access platforms for gutters and tiles from around £150, and farm buildings often want a simple single elevation scaffold or a tower where the job is short and light. We advise honestly on which is right for each job.

We are about 15 minutes from Farington Moss via the A582, so surveys are quick and most scaffolds go up in a single short visit. Nearly every property here has its own garden or yard, so highway licences are rarely needed, though we arrange one from Lancashire County Council on the odd frontage where the scaffold must touch the road. South Ribble Borough Council is the planning authority for any underlying works. We also cover Farington, Moss Side and Leyland Lane from the same runs.

Scaffolding in Farington Moss — your questions answered

How much does scaffolding cost in Farington Moss?

With so many bungalows on the Moss, jobs here often come in at the lower end of the scale. Bungalow chimney scaffolds start from around £250, small access scaffolds from around £150, and a single elevation on a two storey home from around £450, typically £600 to £900. A full two storey scaffold usually lands between £850 and £1,200. We price each job after a free survey, confirm whether VAT is included on the quote, and the price covers transport, erection, the hire period and dismantling.

Do I need full scaffolding or just a scaffold tower?

It depends on the job, not on any fixed height rule. There is no legal minimum height for scaffolding, the Work at Height Regulations 2005 apply wherever a fall could cause injury, and the decision rests on risk assessment. On Farington Moss a tower can suit a short, light task on a bungalow gable, but roof work, chimney rebuilds and anything needing materials at height is normally a job for a properly designed scaffold. Tell us the job and we will advise honestly, and if a tower is the right answer we will say so.

How quickly can you get scaffolding up in Farington Moss?

We are about 15 minutes away, so we can usually survey within 24 hours. Most domestic scaffolds here go up in 2 to 8 hours, with bungalow jobs often at the quicker end and a two storey house taking around 3 to 5 hours on site. These are indicative timings confirmed on the survey. Because most Moss properties have their own land for the scaffold, there is rarely a licence lead time to build in, which keeps scheduling simple.
