Scaffolding in Turpin Green

Turpin Green sits on the east side of Leyland town centre along Turpin Green Lane, an area where Victorian terraces meet later semis, so no two jobs are quite alike. From our Preston base it is about a 20 minute run, and we scaffold everything here from a single chimney stack to a full house wrap, always to TG20:21 and always after a free survey.

The mix of stock around Turpin Green Lane means our work here varies more than on the pure estates. The Victorian terraces bring chimney scaffolds from around £400, repointing platforms and roof strips with single elevations typically £600 to £900, while the semis behind add gable end jobs from around £350 and full three sided scaffolds at £850 to £1,200. Where a terrace fronts the pavement, we arrange the Lancashire County Council licence at £42 per 7 days with the two working days notice built into the schedule, plus padding, lights and signage to keep the footway safe.

We are about 20 minutes from Turpin Green via the A582, close enough for next day surveys and prompt strikes when the trades finish. South Ribble Borough Council is the planning authority for any underlying works, though scaffolding itself needs no planning permission. All scaffolds are inspected at least every 7 days while up. We also cover Golden Hill, Worden and Broadfield from the same rounds, so we are in this part of Leyland most weeks.

Scaffolding in Turpin Green — your questions answered

How much does scaffolding cost in Turpin Green?

As a guide, prices start from around £450 for a single elevation, with most Turpin Green jobs between £600 and £900 for one side and £850 to £1,200 for a full two storey scaffold. Chimney scaffolds on the older terraces start from around £400, gable ends on the semis from around £350, and full wraps from around £1,500. A pavement licence at £42 per 7 days is sometimes needed on terraced frontages. Every quote follows a free survey, states whether VAT is included, and covers transport, erection, the hire period and dismantling.

Do I need to tell my neighbours before scaffolding goes up?

There is no legal duty if the scaffold stands entirely on your own property, but on Turpin Green's terraced rows, where houses share party walls and rear yards sit close together, a courtesy word with the neighbours goes a long way. Permission becomes a legal matter only if the scaffold must stand on or oversail their land, or if the underlying works are notifiable under the Party Wall etc. Act 1996. The scaffold itself does not trigger the Party Wall Act, only the building work can.

How long can I keep the scaffolding, and what if the job overruns?

Our fixed price includes a standard hire period, typically 6 to 8 weeks, confirmed on the quote, covering transport, erection and dismantling. If the works overrun, a weekly extension applies, from around £20 to £35 per week for a two storey terrace and up to around £75 for the largest domestic scaffolds, stated up front. Where the scaffold occupies the pavement it can only stay for the licensed period, and we extend the Lancashire County Council licence at £42 per 7 days if needed.
