Scaffolding in Barnacre-with-Bonds

Barnacre-with-Bonds is the civil parish wrapping around the south and east of Garstang, taking in the houses of Bonds on the town's edge and the farms and cottages of Barnacre reaching up towards the fells. We scaffold across the whole parish from our Preston base, 20 to 25 minutes away, with TG20:21 compliant scaffolds and free surveys throughout.

Because the parish covers two quite different places, the jobs vary widely. In Bonds, on the edge of Garstang, we handle chimney scaffolds, reroof scaffolds and extension work on terraces and semis, occasionally with a licensed footway scaffold where a house fronts the pavement. Out in Barnacre the work turns rural, stone farmhouses, barn conversions and exposed gable ends where wind loading and sheeting decisions matter. The same standards apply everywhere, every scaffold erected to TG20:21 with a handover certificate and inspections at intervals not exceeding seven days while it stands.

Wyre Council is the planning authority for the parish, and where a scaffold must occupy the highway the licence comes from Lancashire County Council at £42 per 7 days with at least two working days notice, which we arrange. We are 20 to 25 minutes away and cover Garstang, Bowgreave, Scorton and Calder Vale on the same runs, so surveys within 24 hours and prompt dismantles are the norm rather than the exception.

Scaffolding in Barnacre-with-Bonds — your questions answered

How much does scaffolding cost in Barnacre-with-Bonds?

Prices start from around £450 for a single elevation on a typical semi, with most jobs across the parish between £600 and £900 for one side and £850 to £1,200 for a full two storey scaffold. Chimney scaffolds start from around £400 and full wraps from around £1,500. Village houses in Bonds and remote farmhouses in Barnacre price quite differently because of access and wall construction, so we always survey free of charge first. Quotes state whether VAT is included and cover transport, erection, the hire period and dismantling.

Do I need planning permission for scaffolding in Barnacre-with-Bonds?

No, scaffolding is a temporary structure and needs no planning permission anywhere in the parish. Consents only concern the building work the scaffold serves, and for that Wyre Council is the planning authority. Separately, if the scaffold has to stand on or oversail the public highway, for example a footway frontage in Bonds, a licence from Lancashire County Council is required before erection and we obtain it as part of the job.

How quickly can you get scaffolding up in Barnacre-with-Bonds?

We are 20 to 25 minutes away depending which end of the parish you are at, so surveys within 24 hours are usually possible. Erection typically takes 2 to 8 hours for domestic jobs, around 3 to 5 hours for a standard two storey house, confirmed at the survey. The main lead time is the two working days notice Lancashire County Council needs when a highway licence applies, which we build into the programme.
