Scaffolding in Cabus

Cabus runs along the A6 just north of Garstang, a ribbon of bungalows, postwar semis and farm properties stretching out towards the mosses. We scaffold here regularly on the way through to Garstang jobs, about 25 minutes from our Preston base, with everything erected to TG20:21 and quoted free after a proper look at the property.

The work we get in Cabus reflects the mix along the A6. Bungalow chimney stacks and reroofs, fascia and gutter replacements on the postwar semis, solar panel scaffolds, and gable end or full farmhouse scaffolds on the working farms off the side lanes. Bungalow jobs are often smaller and cheaper than people expect, with chimney scaffolds on single storey properties starting from around £250, and we will always tell you if a small access scaffold covers the job rather than a bigger setup.

Being about 25 minutes up the A6 from our Preston base, we can usually survey within 24 hours and fit erection around your roofer or installer. Properties fronting the A6 itself sometimes need the scaffold on the footway, which means a Lancashire County Council licence we arrange for you, while farm and garden scaffolds on your own land need no licence at all. We cover Garstang, Winmarleigh, Scorton and Nateby from the same runs, so we are never far away mid hire.

Scaffolding in Cabus — your questions answered

How much does scaffolding cost in Cabus?

As a guide, prices start from around £450 for a single elevation on a typical semi, with most jobs in Cabus landing between £600 and £900 for one side and £850 to £1,200 for a full two storey scaffold. Chimney scaffolds start from around £400 on two storey houses and from around £250 on the bungalows that make up a good share of the village. We price every job individually after a free survey, quotes state whether VAT is included, and the figure covers transport, erection, the hire period and dismantling.

Do I need a licence for scaffolding on the pavement in Cabus?

Only if the scaffold stands on or oversails the public highway, which includes the footway along the A6 frontages. Under Section 169 of the Highways Act 1980 the licence comes from Lancashire County Council and must be in place before erection, which we handle for you. Most Cabus properties have enough garden or drive for the scaffold to sit entirely on private land, in which case no licence is needed.

How quickly can you get scaffolding up in Cabus?

We are about 25 minutes from Cabus, so we can usually survey within 24 hours of your call. Most domestic scaffolds go up in 2 to 8 hours, a typical two storey house taking around 3 to 5 hours on site, though those are indicative timings we confirm at the survey. If a highway licence is needed, Lancashire County Council requires at least two working days notice, and we build that into the plan.
