Scaffolding in Bowgreave

Bowgreave fills the gap between Garstang and Catterall along the B6430, home to Garstang Community Academy and a friendly mix of interwar semis, bungalows and newer estate housing. We are about 20 minutes away in Preston, and we scaffold everything here from single chimney stacks to full house wraps, always to TG20:21 and always with a free survey first.

Bowgreave's housing splits between established interwar and postwar semis along the B6430 and the newer estates that have filled in around them. On the older houses we mostly put up chimney scaffolds, single elevation scaffolds for reroofs and fascia work, and gable end scaffolds for repointing. On the newer stock it is solar panels, dormers and extension work, where we board and protect block paved drives and plan around tighter estate parking. Most scaffolds here sit wholly on private drives and gardens, so highway licences are the exception rather than the rule.

The run from our Preston base is about 20 minutes up the A6, which keeps surveys quick and dismantles prompt. Planning consents for extensions and alterations are dealt with by Wyre Council. We cover Garstang and Bonds immediately to the north and Catterall to the south on the same trips, so if your roofer or installer moves the dates, adapting the schedule is straightforward and costs you nothing extra.

Scaffolding in Bowgreave — your questions answered

How much does scaffolding cost in Bowgreave?

Prices start from around £450 for a single elevation on a typical semi, with most Bowgreave jobs between £600 and £900 for one side and £850 to £1,200 for a full two storey scaffold. Solar panel scaffolds start from around £300 and chimney scaffolds from around £400. Because most properties here have decent drives and gardens, licence fees rarely apply and prices sit at the friendlier end of the range. We price after a free survey, quotes state whether VAT is included, and the figure covers transport, erection, the hire period and dismantling.

Who pays for the scaffolding, me or my builder?

For domestic work in Bowgreave the homeowner usually pays for the scaffold even when a builder or roofer arranges it. If scaffolding is wrapped up inside a builder's quote, ask for it to be itemised so you can see the hire duration, any fees and the dismantle cost, and check whether VAT is included. We are equally happy quoting you directly or slotting into your builder's programme, and with extension work common on the estates here we do both every month.

How long can I keep the scaffolding, and what if the job overruns?

Our fixed price includes a standard hire period, typically 6 to 8 weeks in line with the UK norm, confirmed on your quote along with transport, erection and dismantling. If your project overruns, a weekly extension rate applies, usually somewhere between £20 and £75 per week for domestic scaffolds depending on size, and we publish it on the quote up front so a delayed roofer never turns into a surprise bill.
