Scaffolding in Chaigley

Chaigley is scattered farming country between Hurst Green and the River Hodder, on the southern fringe of the Forest of Bowland. There is no village street, just farmhouses, barns and cottages reached down private lanes, which is exactly the kind of work we are set up for. We are around 35 minutes from Chaigley, offer free surveys and erect every scaffold to TG20:21.

Chaigley is scattered farmland between Hurst Green and the River Hodder on the southern edge of the Forest of Bowland, with no village street, just farmhouses, barns and cottages at the end of private lanes. Scaffolding jobs are correspondingly rural, farmhouse reroofs, chimney stack repairs, barn and outbuilding roofs, and access platforms for repointing weathered stone. Working in farmyards means planning around machinery and livestock, which we do as a matter of course.

The drive from Preston takes around 35 minutes through Longridge and Hurst Green. Because scaffolds stand on private land, highway licences are rarely needed and lead times stay short. We are in this corner of the valley regularly for Hurst Green, Stonyhurst, Walker Fold and the Mittons, so a survey can usually be bolted onto an existing run within a day or two, and coming back to adapt a scaffold mid job is no trouble.

Scaffolding in Chaigley — your questions answered

How much does scaffolding cost in Chaigley?

As a guide, prices start from around £450 for a single elevation, with most Chaigley jobs between £600 and £900 for one side and £850 to £1,200 for a full two storey farmhouse. Chimney scaffolds start from around £400 and full wraps from around £1,500. Scaffolds here stand in yards and gardens, so licence fees rarely apply, and remote access down farm lanes is priced into the fixed quote rather than added later. We survey free of charge, state whether VAT is included, and the price covers transport, erection, the hire period and dismantling.

How quickly can you get scaffolding up in Chaigley?

We are about 35 minutes from Chaigley, so we can usually get a surveyor out within a day or two, often sooner if we are already in the valley at Hurst Green or the Mittons. Most farmhouse and cottage scaffolds are erected in 2 to 8 hours on site, indicatively, and because scaffolds here almost never occupy the public highway there is no licence lead time to wait for. That usually means erection within a few working days of quote approval, confirmed once we have seen the access.

Do I need full scaffolding or just a scaffold tower?

It depends on the job, not on any fixed height rule. There is no legal minimum height for scaffolding, the Work at Height Regulations 2005 apply wherever a fall could cause injury and the decision rests on risk assessment. On Chaigley's farms a tower can handle a short, light task on firm level ground, but reroofs, chimney work and anything involving materials at height or days of work needs a properly designed scaffold, especially on sites catching the wind off the Bowland fells. Tell us the job and we will advise honestly either way.
