Scaffolding in Little Mitton

Little Mitton is a small knot of properties across the Ribble from its larger neighbour, centred on a historic hall with stone houses and farmland around it. We cover it as part of our daily Ribble Valley round, roughly 35 minutes from our Preston base, with free surveys, fixed quotes and TG20:21 compliant scaffolds on every job.

Little Mitton is a small cluster of properties on the Whalley side of the Ribble, centred on a historic hall with stone houses and farmland around it. Scaffolding requests here are steady rather than frequent, reroofs and chimney repairs on older stone buildings, access for repointing, and occasional larger platforms where an extension or conversion is under way. Ribble Valley Borough Council handles planning for any underlying works, and we can liaise with their conservation team where a property is listed.

The trip from Preston takes about 35 minutes, and because we are already in the valley most weeks for Great Mitton, Hurst Green and Chaigley, adding a survey or a scaffold alteration in Little Mitton is rarely a wait. Most scaffolds here sit on private land, so highway licences are seldom needed, and the quote covers transport, erection, the hire period and dismantling with no surprises at the end.

Scaffolding in Little Mitton — your questions answered

How much does scaffolding cost in Little Mitton?

Prices start from around £450 for a single elevation, with most Little Mitton jobs between £600 and £900 for one side and £850 to £1,200 for a full two storey scaffold. Chimney scaffolds start from around £400 and full wraps from around £1,500. Properties here mostly stand on their own land, so licence fees rarely apply, and older stone walls are allowed for in the design rather than added to the bill later. Every price follows a free survey, states whether VAT is included, and covers transport, erection, the hire period and dismantling.

Do I need planning permission to put scaffolding up at my house in Little Mitton?

No. Scaffolding is a temporary structure and does not need planning permission, even near listed or historic buildings. Permission questions only arise for the building work the scaffold serves, and a highway licence from Lancashire County Council would only be needed if the scaffold stood on public land, which is uncommon in Little Mitton where most properties have their own grounds. If you are unsure about the underlying works, Ribble Valley Borough Council is the planning authority here.

Do you actually cover Little Mitton? You are based in Preston.

Yes, Little Mitton is inside our daily working area at about 35 minutes out, on the same run that takes us to Great Mitton, Hurst Green and Chaigley most weeks. That means surveys within a day or two, prompt inspections after storms, quick adaptations mid job and a fast strike once your trades finish. Distance never changes the standard either, every scaffold out here goes up to TG20:21 with the same paperwork and handover certificate as a job round the corner from our yard.

Quotes. All quotes are free and carry no obligation. Quoted prices state whether VAT is included and cover transport, erection, the agreed hire period and dismantling unless the quote says otherwise. If your project runs past the included hire period, the weekly extension rate shown on your quote applies.

The scaffold. Our scaffolding is erected and dismantled by qualified scaffolders and must not be altered, moved or added to by anyone other than us. Please don't attach banners, sheeting or equipment to the scaffold without asking us first. The scaffold remains our property at all times.

Access and licences. You agree to provide reasonable access to the property for erection, inspections and dismantling. Where the scaffold stands on the public highway we arrange the council licence, and the licence fee is included in or itemised on your quote.

Insurance and safety. We hold public liability insurance and employer's liability insurance, and our scaffolds are erected to TG20:21 guidance with statutory inspections at least every 7 days while the scaffold is in use. Insurance certificates are available on request.

Your enquiry and your details. When you send an enquiry we use your name and contact details only to respond to you about scaffolding work. We don't sell or share your details with anyone else, and we don't send marketing. Ask us at any time and we'll delete your details.

Payment. Payment terms are stated on your quote or invoice. The scaffold may be removed if invoices remain unpaid beyond the agreed terms.
